MADAM MEDUSA's THOUGHTS ON:
THE JAMS BOARD
"I found this board the night of the UB40 show in June. I was disappointed that there was no merchandise for sale at the show and wanted to see if UB40 had a site where you could purchase memorabilia. Instead of a shirt, I linked to a wonderful place where people are so kind and friendly! I have been a fan for about fifteen years and have never found other people that share my passion for UB40. Its a terrific feeling to be able to share ideas, information, and great stories. I am definitely addicted!"
UB40
"I cant describe how I feel about this band. Any group that is together for twenty years with all of the original members, and is still on the charts, speaks for itself. I know that I get kind of arrogant when speaking to others about UB40, its just that there is so much to brag about. They are so incredible on stage, even when I have taken people to the show that are not fans, they come away wanting more. My only wish is that someday I will actually get to meet them. Then I will be complete.
BEING A UB40 FAN
"I lead a normal life but when it comes to UB40 I lose any sense I have. It seems that there are lulls in the madness, like when I havent seen them in a while, but as soon as I do, its almost like a binge thing. I cannot get enough of them. I have to say (and others may disagree), that being a fan of UB40 in the United States is very difficult. Maybe challenging is a better word. They dont get much airplay, and the latest news or information about them is non-existent. That is why the Jams board is such a lifesaver, then I never have to be without!"
MUSIC
"I cant really put a label on what kind of music I like. Its whatever makes me happy at the time, or takes me back to a certain time in my life. Most people I know have a certain radio station that they listen to, I can never decide. Its like I can listen to an old 70s rock tune (Styx, Fleetwood Mac) and remember when I was growing up, and then switch to a late 80s dance song (the MC Hammer thing, ahhh!) and remember when I was in my early twenties, dancing my butt off in the clubs. I wish I could be more discriminating in my taste, but its just what fits my mood, talent is not a requirement. Because I am so fickle, my CD collection is very small, mostly UB40, some Bob Marley, James Taylor, and Melissa Etheridge."
TOP 3 SONGS
"Changes all the time, but for right now, 'Love is All is Allright', 'Many Rivers To Cros' and 'Oracabessa Moonshine'.
THE JAMS POSSE
"It is impossible to describe this group, and believe me I have tried. Everyone is welcoming and even when I have been shy there was always someone there to reach out and make me feel at home. I have had internet access for years and it still amazes me that people from all over the globe can communicate and actually meet! The camaraderie is amazing and no one makes any new members feel out of place. I have only been on the board a little over a month and I cant wait to travel across the ocean to the next Fanfest!"
THE #UBJams CHAT
"I have only been on once so far and I had a great time. Unfortunately, in my time zone it is about 11:00am and I am at work, so I probably wont be able to visit often, but it seems to be a great place just to get to know each other better and talk about whatever comes up!"
A PERSONAL QUOTE from MADAM MEDUSA
"I didnt write it but it is so fitting for the Jams Board: 'Lifes truest happiness is found in friendships we make along the way.'" -Unknown
Sharon, aka Madam Medusa is from the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. "I use either my real name or Madam Medusa on the board and chats which I believe Sistah E helped me pick out when I first joined the board. Unfortunately, in UB40s music/views, Madam Medusa is not a good person, but I still think its a great nickname.
