DOCTAH'S THOUGHTS ON:

THE JAMS BOARD

"Now that I've been on the boards for a while, my thoughts are still the same. Great way to catch up on what's going on with the band, as well as keep in touch with friends I've made, ask questions, make jokes, and offer info."

UB40

"What can I say? I've followed these guys for 14 years, since the first time I saw them in 1985. I was instantly hooked, no ifs, ands, or buts. For years, I listened to almost nothing aside from reggae in general, UB40 in particular. I've met the guys numerous times over the years, and the thing that strikes me the most about them is how down to earth they are. No matter how long they've been going, how much money they have, or how tired they are after a show, they always have the time to talk to people. Their devotion to the music, their respect for their fans, and the high level of fun they are having in their lives are contagious. They've changed my life, by making me much more aware of the things that are important to me - family, friendship, love, life, honesty, compassion, fun, acceptance."

BEING A UB40 FAN

"Amazing! The band are so in touch with their fans. I've met a few fans over the years - on here, at shows. Despite different backgrounds, UB40 is the unifying factor. Prior to UB40, I was a fan of other bands. None offered the same camaraderie that UB40 provokes. I look forward to meeting more UB fans, and maintaining the friendships with the fans I already know."

MUSIC

"As a musician, I feel that music in general is the 'universal language'. Although tastes differ, music effects a response in every listener - whether they hate or love the song, the style, or the message. Music allows us to feel and express such a variety of emotions, and I'm unable to think of another medium that can offer the same outlet. My personal musical tastes often left me an oddball among my peers...while my friends were listening to The Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Bauhaus, I could usually be found listening to reggae, any reggae. I've managed to convert a few! <g>"

TOP 3 SONGS

Hmmm...top 3 reggae of all time would have to be Three Little Birds, Cliff's Many Rivers To Cross live, and Pressure Drop by the Maytals.

Top 3 other than reggae: In My Life - Beatles, Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin, and Woodstock - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

Top 3 UB40 - Strange Fruit, Love Is All (Is Alright), and Madam Medusa.

THE JAMS POSSE

"I've had the pleasure of meeting a handful of you in DC and Philly - what a blast that was!!! Made some good friends - look forward to the next time we can get together (Summer 2000??). One of these days I might even make it to one of the fanfests...."

THE #UBJams CHAT

"The chat is great fun - getting to talk to each other in real time as opposed to leaving messages on the board is a switch. Best of all is when we meet in the middle of the night for "watching" cybercasts and such. I look forward to the Thursdays that I'm off work so I can join in - which isn't often enough."
